Would you move?

Don asked today if I wanted to move to London for 9 to 12 months so he could work for Save the Children Foundation through BCG. My reaction was, "YES!" He hesitated. He is worried about letting go of Alex's spot in his great new school and giving up my very flexible new job. He is also a Texan through and through...this is his dream home.
What do you guys think? Would you move?

  1. ARE YOU KIDDING?! My response would be exactly what yours was, girl - how incredible!! I hear Don about the cons, but really, there's no way I wouldn't jump on that opportunity! If and when you decide to go, I've got like a million pages of info for you - places to go, things to do, shopping and museums and shows - OH MY! Leslie and I could probably combine to give you the "best of" what we love about our favorite city - KEEP US POSTED!!

  2. Ooohh....what an opportunity. I've always wanted to live/work overseas. Let me e-mail you the address of a friend who went to London while her husband did a degree at London School of Economics....they're now in Moscow - and she has a teeny baby....she can give you the "inside scoop" of living abroad (and with kids)

  3. Oh I would say "Tell me where to sign!" Yes there are cons, but when would you ever be able to do this again. Once in a life time I would say!

  4. Funny, I always remembered Don as wanting to see the world. He must have really settled down. As long as the kids are learning basic skills like reading and writing, it doesn't make as much difference where you are. It sounds like a great opportunity. And he can help the children of the world. WOW

  8. No way!

    Texas Rules and London Drools!

But I am a chicken and not very adventurous so don't count my vote!

  9. My initial response would of course be YES! Just think how close to Paris you will be! Oh, I get chills just thinking about all the things I want to see in Europe. But I would have a really hard time giving up some really wonderful things that I have worked so hard for - if I were you. I'm in a very transient stage of my life, so the only thing I would miss is my family.

  10. You would be crazy to pass this up. You got a job once and you can do it again but the chance to live in England for a year and help the children of the world...that is a once in a lifetime opportunity and you guys should do it. As for Alex' school, he is old enough he will remember England and other places you might visit while living there. That is a better education!

  11. Holy cow, are you kidding? Should it even be a question? I say absolutely go! Think of all the exposure you and your family would be getting; how "worldly" you guys would be. I am a firm believer in trying to seeing things from all sides, the ins and outs of life, you know. How better to do that then by living in it for a while to see how others live.
