A Fork in the Road

Within the next week we will decide where we will live, what new job Don will take, which school Cole will attend, and if I will continue to work.
OH...the pressure! The uncertainty is frustrating. I am trying to keep a positive attitude and exercise patience, but it is certainly a challenge.

Easter 2008

My generous Mother came into town to watch our 3 little ones while Don and I attend an old friend's wedding in Seattle, WA. Though I missed spending Easter with my kids, I did love the time away.
Here are some of the highlights:

We stayed at The W. They upgraded our room, ordered limos for us, made our dinner reservations and literally ran my errands.
How cool is that?

On Friday, we visited Pike's Place Market. It is a huge open air market with fresh fruits and vegetables, seafood, and flowers...incredible stuff!!! They also have tons of artists highlighting their music, crafts, jewelry, etc.
The kicker of it all was having a yummy hot chocolate at the original Starbucks.

Before dinner, we had a little time to kill so we visited the Seattle Art Museum. We toured the ancient Rome exhibit. We just wish we had had time to tour the rest of the museum.

Dinner Friday night was at the Palisade. We were fortunate enough to get a table right near the windows. We watched the sun set on all of downtown Seattle and their beautiful marina.
The food was amazing. We had lobster bisque, crab won-tons, warm brie', salad, King Crab legs, prawns, salmon, scallops, warm breads, sorbet, and white chocolate mouse cake...two of those.

On Saturday, we had lunch with Nicole and Andrew at the Space Needle. The restaurant floor actually revolves so that you can have a panoramic view of Seattle from 500 ft. in the air.
Food, not so good...view of a Bald Eagle almost eye-to-eye, fabulous!

There were so many other fun things like lunch at Cutter's with fresh Sockeye salmon sushi, finding a coat for me in their 30 degree SPRING, attending Kelly's wedding, watching Don scroll through his blackberry every 5 minutes to find basketball scores, grabbing some chocolate in Pioneer's square, but you get the point.

The best surprise of all was that it didn't rain until the day we left! Lucky us.
Thanks again, Mom!

Eye Surgery

I am considering having eye surgery. I am very nervous about it, but it would be really nice to see clearly.
What would happen if they screwed up? Is the gamble worth being able to ditch the contacts and glasses?
I have a lot to research to do.

"I'll marry you, Mommy."

This morning Cole said he was never going to move away. This could be prompted by my telling the kids that I want them to be 5 years old for the next 30 years, that I am going to be sad when they are too big to cuddle or that I am going to miss them when they have a family of their own. I told Cole I would love for him to stay. He replied, "Well, then, I'll marry you, Mommy."

2008 Houston Rodeo

Last year, Don and I did a concert and the rodeo, Alex and I did the kiddy park, and the girls and I went shopping! That just scratched the surface of this incredible event.

This year, Don and I totally forced Alex and Cole to skip school so we could hit the rides without lines. We ate tons of junk food, rode lots of rides, cheered for the Pig #2 and bought Cowboy hats!
Don and I visited the annual Bar-B-Que cook off. It was fun, but totally not our scene anymore.
If you haven't been, you have to go!

4 Leaf Clovers

I HAVE NEVER FOUND ONE!
ARGHHH!!!
I am still searching.

Typing Speed

70 words

Speedtest

I remember asking my Mother how she learned to type so quickly. I was amazed that she didn't look at the keys and the words just popped up on the screen faster than I could write them. The tapping sound was hypnotic.
Looks like I now know how she did it.
Thanks for the test, Julianne

How to get "unstuck"

They are redoing our street. To get out of our driveway, we require a very strong chain, a very big machine, and a very good digger driver.
